Ginny is an eight-year old spayed female longhaired shaded English cream dachshund looking for a lap to love. She's looking for a retiree or work-from-home “mom” with lots of lap time. She likes men, too, but has always loved her "moms." Ginny was born with a stumpy, short tail that accentuates her cute little wiggle butt!
Backstory: Ginny lived six years as the QUEEN with our mom in her home (see photo of dog bed with her monkeys). The last year of Momma's life, she and Ginny moved in our home where Ginny adapted well to our dachshund and German Shepherd family. Ginny has been missing Momma's lap since she went to heaven in February 2024. Though she loves our hounds and hanging in our laps when we slow down, she LOVES to be in a lap way more than we have time to provide her. As difficult as it is to let her go, Ginny NEEDS to be a QUEEN again! She does well with other dachshunds or small dogs but is not a fan of overly playful large dogs. She has not been around cats.
Ginny's ideal home will have a secure, fenced area for her to run, play and potty while supervised. Though Ginny is agreeable to sleep in her floor bed or crate, she will love to sleep in the bed with you. Her ideal “mom” (and "dad") must have the financial means to provide monthly heartworm, flea and tick preventative plus other routine vet care such as dental cleaning etc. To prevent urinary tract infections (she's not had one in years), Ginny eats science diet urinary care food which is $57 for the 8 pound bag or $133 for the more economical 27 pound bag. She loves to chew Whimzees or Greenies to maintain dental health.
Please be prepared to answer questions, FaceTime and provide photos/video of where Ginny will live plus provide vet and/or other references.
